A maritime community in transition».

The aim of this paper is to examine, through the use of unpublished archival sources, the economic and social development of Spetses during the post-revolutionary period, which remains largely unexplored in Greek historiography. At the center of this brief presentation is the historical trajectory of the local maritime community — its social and economic relations, hierarchies, and changes — which, against a backdrop of profound transformations, is closely linked to the rise and eventual decline of the island’s commercial and maritime activities.
