CASFI Junior Fellowship in Finance & Inequality, Academic Year 2026/27, University of Bonn,

29-03-2026 11:58

We invite applications for the CASFI Junior Fellowship in Finance & Inequality at the Center for Advanced Studies: Finance & Inequality (CASFI) at the University of Bonn for the academic year 2026/27.

The fellowship is aimed at scholars in economic and business history based outside Germany who wish to spend a period in residence at CASFI (www.casfi.uni-bonn.de).

Fellows are expected to interact with faculty and researchers, present work at our workshops, actively participate in workshops and conferences, and conduct historical research in the fields finance and / or inequality. Any publications resulting from research conducted during the fellowship should acknowledge the financial support of the CASFI Fellowship.

Fellowships have a duration of 3 to 6 months. Fellows will receive a monthly stipend of 3,000 € (for recent post-docs) to 4,500 € (for advanced assistant professors). In addition, fellows will be provided with office space, an institutional email account, a computer, and full access to the University of Bonn's libraries and intranet during their stay. Reasonable travel expenses to and from Bonn will also be reimbursed.

The Centre for Advanced Studies: Finance & Inequality (CASFI), led by Professor Carsten Burhop (Economic History) and Professor Christian Bayer (Economics) brings together early-career and established researchers to explore the broadly defined topic of finance and inequality, while leaving ample scope for individual research ideas. In particular, CASFI scholars investigate the multiple relationships between the development of the financial sector and the evolution of income and wealth inequality from a historical perspective.
