CfP: Economic History Network, 14th European Social Science History Conference, 12-15 April 2023, Gothenburg, Sweden

02-03-2022 08:11

The European Social Science History Conference is one of the largest congresses for the historical sciences in the world. It brings together scholars who explain historical phenomena using the methods of the social sciences. It welcomes participants working on a wide range of topics and any historical period.

The Economic History Network invites proposals for papers as well as for sessions comprised of 4 related papers. We welcome proposals focusing on any aspect of the historical analysis of economic change using both quantitative and qualitative methods, on any region of Europe and the wider world. We especially look forward to receiving submissions from young scholars and using interdisciplinary approaches that push the boundaries of economic history. Both paper and session proposals must be submitted through the ESSHC website by filling out the pre-registration form:

https://esshc.socialhistory.org/conference/user/pre-registration

To include your paper or session in our network, please select Economic History from the list of networks. If you wish to see all networks, please follow this link.

https://esshc.iisg.amsterdam/en/networks

To propose a paper, submit a working title and an abstract of up to 500 words. To propose a session, submit the title and abstract for the session and the list of participants. We ask you to suggest a chair and discussant for your session, who may be the same person. All paper and session proposals must be submitted by 15 April 2022 at the latest.

The ESSHC is not a platform for thematic workshops with many sessions, but we do accept proposals with a maximum of two subsequent sessions. If you submit a double-session proposal, depending on how competitive the call is the network chairs may decide to offer only one session to the session organizers. In principle, we do not welcome panel discussions or roundtables. We invite-only sessions that present and discuss novel research.

Chairs of the Economic History Network:

Mikolaj Malinowski (Groningen University), correspondent (m.malinowski[at]rug.nl)
Christiaan van Bochove (Utrecht University)
M. Erdem Kabadayi (Koc University)
