The latest issue of "Il Datini" (the newsletter of Fondazione Istituto Internazionale di Storia Economica “F. Datini” / International Institute of Economic History "F. Datini") is now available online.
The special issue "Environmental Histories of Mediterranean Fascisms" contains two articles that address issues relating to Spanish colonization. The first is about Colonization in Badajoz Province, and the second about the Environmental Coloniality in Francoist Spain. The other two articles focus on European Countries. One of them analyzes the Italian fascist modernization and colonial landscape in Albania and the other one makes us reflect about Greece under Metaxas’ Regime. The last two articles concern fascist colonialism in Libya and Mozambique.
The John Scholes Transport History Prize competition for 2022 is open, with a deadline for submissions of 31 July 2022.
The prize consists of £150 of vouchers to spend with SAGE, €250 in cash and a year's membership of the International Association for the History of Transport, Traffic and Mobility (T2M).
The prize is awarded annually to the writer of a publishable paper based on original research into any aspect of the history of transport and mobility. The prize is intended to recognise budding transport historians. It may be awarded to the writer of one outstanding article, or be divided between two or more entrants. Typically, the prize is awarded for research completed as part of a PhD.
Publication in the Journal of Transport History will be at the discretion of the Editor and subject to the normal refereeing process.
The prize is named in memory of John Scholes, the first Curator of Historical Relics at the British Transport Commission. The prize is supported by SAGE, publishers of the Journal of Transport History, and T2M.
The Turriano ICOHTEC Prize is an Early Career Prize for Books on the history of technology, sponsored by the Juanelo Turriano Foundation and consists of 2,500 Euro. The prize-winning book will be presented and discussed at a special session of the next ICOHTEC symposium, that will take place as part of the 27th International Congress for the History of Science and Technology.

The Balkan History Association is preparing a volume dedicated to modern Greece, its history, geopolitics, language, culture, and society. The volume will be published by Peter Lang (Series “South-East European History”). Authors are invited to submit their paper proposals with special emphasis on: aspects of the Greek Revolution of 1821; history, ideology, and politics of the modern Greek state in the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries; historical and current geopolitics of Greece as a state actor in the wider region; international relations of Greece; linguistics and policies of the Greek language; cultural aspects of modern Greek society.
Call for papers for an issue of the journal Balkanologie. Revue d’études pluridisciplinaires, edited by the Association française d’études sur les Balkans, edited by Mehdi Belasri (EHESS, CETOBaC), Milana Čergić (Max Planck Institut für ethnologische Forschung, Halle) and Andrea Umberto Gritti (EHESS, CETOBaC), and tentatively entitled «Mutations économiques en Europe du Sud-Est à l’époque contemporaine : acteurs et lieux» / «Economic Mutations in South-Eastern Europe in Contemporary Times: Entrepreneurs and Places».
Le fonds des archives historiques de la Banque de France comporte plus de 110 000 articles (boîtes, registres, photographies…) versés par ses services ou provenant d’établissements en lien avec la Banque de France comme la Caisse des Comptes courants, la Banque de Réescompte de la Sarre ou encore l’Institut d’Émission des États associés. Quelques fonds privés sont aussi conservés comme le fonds d’Argout (gouverneur entre 1834 et 1836) ou le fonds Rist (sous-gouverneur entre 1926 et 1929) déposé par ses descendants. Le fonds d’archives est complété par les 50 000 ouvrages de la bibliothèque historique parmi lesquels figurent des ouvrages rares.
