Postdoctoral Researcher in Economic History, Department of Economics, University of Hohenheim

The Institute of Economic History in the Department of Economics at the University of Hohenheim seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher in Economic History beginning from October 1st, 2023.

We invite outstanding and highly motivated young researchers with a PhD in quantitative economic history to apply for this postdoctoral position. We are looking for an early-career researcher who wants to develop his/her promising research agenda to take the next step towards an academic career. The successful candidate will have already demonstrated his/her ambition to pursue an academic career by demonstrating outstanding research skills during his/her PhD studies. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Institute's teaching and research agenda at the intersection of economic and social history, with priority given to candidates with a research interest in historical perspectives on regional economic development/financial institutions and/or social mobility. Experience in using GIT is an advantage. S/he will work closely with other researchers in the Institute of Economic and Social History and will be expected to produce high-quality research in this area.

The University of Hohenheim is located in Stuttgart in the south of Germany. The Institute of Economic History and Economics offers a supportive and inspiring research environment. Our group of researchers is highly dynamic and interactive with a strong interest in Applied and Quantitative Economics.

Applicants hold a doctoral degree in Economics or Economic History (usually no longer than 2 years after completion when applying) or are close to completion. The initial term of appointment is three years and can be extended up to six years. The position is full-time. Remuneration is based on the TV-L public pay scale (state of Baden Wuerttemberg), salary group E13 or a temporary civil service contract A13. It comes with teaching obligation of 4 hours per semester. The starting date of the position is negotiable.
