Abstract:

The presentation focuses on the production process in the home electrical appliance (“white goods”) factories in Greece, through the example of the Izola factory, in Kallithea, Attica. The presentation includes basic information concerning developments in the manufacturing sector of white goods, drawn from international literature, as well as an outline of the history of the Izola plant and the Izola group of companies, from 1930 to 1977, when Izola merged with Viometal-Eskimo to form Elinda. Next, attention is drawn to the analysis of the production process of home electrical appliances and its evolution, as it was illustrated in the company’s various periodical publications, which are part of Georgios Drakos’ collection (Hellenic Literary and Historical Archive – ELIA).
