The 2025 Annual Cliometrics Conference will be held on Friday-Saturday, June 20 – June 21, 2025, in Williamstown, Massachusetts, sponsored by Williams College and the National Science Foundation. The conference will pay most travel and lodging expenses for faculty and graduate students chosen to attend. The conference will begin on Friday morning and end after the conference dinner on Saturday. Lodging at Williams College will be made available to attendees for the nights of June 19, 20, and 21.
 
Proposals to present a paper, or to attend the conference without presenting, will be accepted starting Friday, December 6, 2024, ending (deadline) at midnight Eastern Standard time on Friday, February 14, 2025. Those proposing to present a paper must provide an abstract and a 3-5-page summary of the paper. The summary must be self-contained (do not refer to an online appendix) and no less than one-and-a-half spaced. Graduate students proposing to present a paper must also submit a letter of recommendation from a dissertation advisor. Graduate students whose papers are not selected for the program will automatically be considered for the Graduate Student Research Session(s), one or more “egg timer” sessions in which each student has 10 minutes to give an oral presentation of their research.

Those whose papers are selected for presentation will be notified by Friday, March 21, 2025, and must provide the paper in the specified conference format by Monday, April 28, 2025.
 
The conference is designed to provide extensive discussion of new economic history research about any geographic region and time period. We welcome applications from doctoral students, junior and senior faculty located anywhere in the world, in academic disciplines including but not limited to economics, history, and economic history. We particularly encourage interdisciplinary research and research on populations relatively neglected by existing literature.
 
About eleven papers will be selected for presentation. A session of 50 minutes will be devoted to each paper, in which the presenter will have five minutes to make an opening statement. The rest of the time is devoted to questions and discussion of the paper among conference participants. All participants will be required to read all papers in advance and to attend the entire conference. At least one author of a paper must be a member of the Cliometrics Society.
