Submissions are invited for the Joan Thirsk Memorial Prize offered by the British Agricultural History Society in memory of Joan Thirsk (1922–2013).

The Thirsk prize is an annual award for the best book in British and Irish rural or agrarian history employing broadly historical methodology (so works ofsocial anthropology, archaeology or of contemporary rural sociology will not be eligible). There is a single prize of £500 (which may be split) and the committee are allowed to commend other submissions.

The prize was first awarded earlier in 2017 and is now is offered for books published in the calendar year 2022.

We invite contributions for a special issue on “pandemics in world economic history” in the journal “Economics and Human Biology”. If you are interested to participate, please let us know until 30 November; submissions would then be expected until 15 January 2023. Regarding the background, “Economics and Human Biology” is a journal on the relationship between human biology and economic factors with many health economics contributions; about 10% of the contributions are historical studies, mainly on crucial questions related to health, height, and mortality. The impact factor compares very well to the five top economic history journals.

Μεταξύ Πέμπτης 29ης Σεπτεμβρίου και Σαββάτου 1ης Οκτωβρίου 2022, διεξήχθη με επιτυχία στην Αθήνα το 4ο Διεθνές Συνέδριο Οικονομικής και Κοινωνικής Ιστορίας της Ελληνικής Εταιρείας Οικονομικής Ιστορίας, με θέμα “Μορφές του Καπιταλισμού στη Μεσόγειο (18ος-20ός αιώνας)” (Varieties of Capitalism in the Mediterranean, 18^th-20^th century). Το συνέδριο οργανώθηκε σε συνεργασία με το Τμήμα Πολιτικής Επιστήμης και Ιστορίας του Παντείου Πανεπιστημίου και το Ινστιτούτο Ιστορικών  Ερευνών του Εθνικού Ιδρύματος Ερευνών.

Το Πολιτιστικό Ίδρυμα Ομίλου Πειραιώς (ΠΙΟΠ), στο πλαίσιο του εκδοτικού του έργου, προκηρύσσει το Πρόγραμμα «Νέοι Ερευνητές-Νέες Εκδόσεις». Στόχος του είναι να συμβάλει στη δημιουργία ευκαιριών για νέους ερευνητές για την παραγωγή συγγραφικού έργου σε επιστημονικά θέματα αιχμής.

Παράταση υποβολής προτάσεων για είκοσι (20) επιπλέον μέρες έως τις 12/12/2022.

Κυκλοφόρησε ο 14ος τόμος του περιοδικού Μεσαιωνικά και Νέα Ελληνικά από το Κέντρον Ερεύνης του Μεσαιωνικού και Νέου Ελληνισμού της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών με αφιέρωμα στη 200ή επέτειο της Ελληνικής Επανάστασης του 1821. 

The Economic History Society offers 12 part-funded places on an intensive residential course designed to raise the quality and analytical rigour of doctoral dissertations in economic and social history; to improve the communication skills of postgraduates; to widen their approach to their subjects; and to encourage them to form networks with established scholars and fellow students in their areas of expertise.

Après avoir consacré quelques numéros aux PME et quelques articles sur les artisans, la revue Entreprises & Histoire se propose à présent de préparer un numéro sur l’artisanat, ses entreprises et ses entrepreneurs, dont l’ambition sera de croiser et de faire se rencontrer différentes disciplines (histoire, économie, sciences de gestion, sociologie, anthropologie, droit…) pour éclairer les capacités d’adaptation des entreprises artisanales face aux transformations économiques et le dynamisme de l’artisanat sur la longue durée, mais également pour étudier l’évolution du regard des chercheurs sur l’artisanat, comme un monde en voie de disparition à protéger ou au contraire comme une nouvelle forme de modernité.

The purpose of the workshop is to bring together people teaching and researching historical population studies in a wide range of disciplines to 1) identify the differences in the way each discipline approaches the teaching of and research in historical demography and 2) begin to build a consensus on the key concepts, methods and approaches that students of historical demography should be taught regardless of discipline. We wish to encourage those attending to discuss the way that their disciplines teach topics and approaches in historical demography; describe the research training and skills that they—or their discipline—believe students of historical demography need to acquire; and consider the benefits and challenges they have encountered when collaborating with colleagues trained in other disciplines.

Δημοσιεύθηκε η προκήρυξη με τίτλο «Χρηματοδότηση της Βασικής Έρευνας (Οριζόντια υποστήριξη όλων των Επιστημών)», η οποία συμπεριλαμβάνεται στον άξονα 4.5 «Προώθηση της Έρευνας και της Καινοτομίας» του Εθνικού Σχεδίου Ανάκαμψης και Ανθεκτικότητας («Ελλάδα 2.0») με τη χρηματοδότηση της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης – Next Generation EU).

"Το ιστορικό τοπίο στα τέλη της Ελληνικής Επανάστασης. Η Γαλλική επιστημονική αποστολή του Μοριά, 1829." αποτελεί ένα ερευνητικό πρόγραμμα του Ινστιτούτου Ιστορικών Ερευνών του Εθνικού Ιδρύματος Ερευνών.

Το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο της Ελληνικής Εταιρείας Οικονομικής Ιστορίας εκφράζει την έντονη αντίθεσή του στο περιεχόμενο και, κυρίως, στο πνεύμα που διέπει το πρόσφατο νομοσχέδιο για την Ανώτατη Παιδεία, το οποίο η Υπουργός Παιδείας και Θρησκευμάτων κα Νίκη Κεραμέως κατέθεσε λίγο πριν τις θερινές διακοπές, θέτοντας μάλιστα ασφυκτικές προθεσμίες διαβούλευσης και ψήφισης από το Κοινοβούλιο.
