APS Publication Grant, Supported by C. G. Boerner and Harris Schrank
The APS Publication Grant supports the publication of innovative scholarly research about printmaking across all time periods and geographic regions. The grant carries a maximum award of $2,000 and is funded through the Association of Print Scholars and the generosity of C.G. Boerner and Harris Schrank.

CfP: The territorial state and the creation of an integrated monetary and financial space in the 19th century
The Society for Social and Economic History (Gesellschaft für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsgeschichte, GSWG) and the Economic History Committee of the Verein für Socialpolitik (Wirtschaftshistorischer Ausschuss des Vereins für Socialpolitik, VfS) jointly organise a conference on "Territories, States and Nation in Economic and Social History" to be held in Vienna on 7-9 April 2021.
We would like to contribute to the conference with a session on financial history entitled "The territorial state and the creation of an integrated monetary and financial space in the 19th century".

CfP session "Resources for health and the health of resources: financing healthcare institutions in the long run", WEHC Paris, 25-30 July, 2021
This panel focuses on how financial resources were collected and allocated in order to fund and run healthcare institutions. The aim is to examine which ‘business models’ were better able to meet the large and increasing costs, caused by population pressure and secular trends, and which factors determined the emergence of diverse types of financing healthcare in the long run (14th - 21st cc). Over time public, private and mixed forms of supporting unraveled: historical evidence shows for instance the changing role played by governments, shifting from the ‘minimum State’ before 19th century, to the central function played by the State later, when it became the chief provider of public services including also healthcare. When medical care services were provided to large proportions of the population, costs increased. This was also due to the fact that because technology initially hardly affected healthcare, its productivity increased only slightly, keeping unit costs high, as Baumol masterly proved. Attention will therefore also go to how more advanced healthcare institutions managed to finance and adopt scientific and technological innovations.

Το Πολιτιστικό Ίδρυμα Ομίλου Πειραιώς στο πλαίσιο υλοποίησης των υποχρεώσεών του για τις ανάγκες του προγράμματος «Πολιτιστικές διαστάσεις της βαθιάς μάθησης» με το ακρώνυμο «CULDILE», το οποίο εντάσσεται στο πρόγραμμα «Ανταγωνιστικότητα, Επιχειρηματικότητα & Καινοτομία» με Κωδικό έργου Τ1ΕΔΚ-03785 και Κωδικό Πράξης 5030959, έχει αναλάβει την παραχώρηση αρχειακού υλικού, με σκοπό τη χαρτογράφηση μιας σύγχρονης διαδικασίας ψηφιοποίησης και τεκμηρίωσης. Αντικείμενο της σύμβασης με εξωτερικό συνεργάτη θα αποτελεί ο διανοητικός έλεγχος, η τεκμηρίωση των προς ψηφιοποίηση εγγράφων καθώς και η συνεισφορά στη σύνταξη των παραδοτέων του προγράμματος. Επίσης, θα συμμετέχει σε συσκέψεις εργασίας και εργαστήρια -εφόσον απαιτηθεί- εντός και εκτός Ελλάδας, με κάλυψη των εξόδων από τον αντίστοιχο προϋπολογισμό του προγράμματος.

Ανδρέας Κακριδής (2017) Ο Κυριάκος Βαρβαρέσος αποτελεί μια από τις πιο ενδιαφέρουσες προσωπικότητες στον χώρο της οικονομικής σκέψης και πολιτικής στην Ελλάδα του 20ού αιώνα. Ανώτερος δημόσιος υπάλληλος και αργότερα καθηγητής, Υπουργός Οικονομικών κατά την πτώχευση του 1932, Υποδιοικητής και μετέπειτα Διοικητής της Τράπεζας της Ελλάδος έως το 1946, Υπουργός της εξόριστης κυβέρνησης στη διάρκεια της Κατοχής και Αντιπρόεδρος της κυβέρνησης το 1945, υπεύθυνος για την πλέον φιλόδοξη σταθεροποιητική προσπάθεια της μεταπολεμικής οικονομίας, ο Βαρβαρέσος συνέδεσε το όνομά του με τις πιο κρίσιμες οικονομικές εξελίξεις μιας ολόκληρης εποχής.
